DiGiCo Quantum 338 console central to 34-concert residency for Abel Pintos and Luciano Pereyra

Argentinian singer-songwriters Abel Pintos and Luciano Pereyra joined forces for a series of concerts, with an extra four dates added due to huge demand. Staged at Buenos Aires’ historic Luna Park Stadium, the concerts were performed “in the round” and at their core were two DiGiCo consoles - a Quantum 338 at front-of-house and an SD10 at the monitor position.

The equipment was specified by rental company Buenos Aires Live Show (BALS). Equaphone, DiGiCo’s distributor for Argentina and Uruguay, also delivered a full service and support package. Walter Logarzo, Marketing and Communications Manager at Equaphon, oversaw the involvement in this project.

Ramón Gallo was technical supervisor for the residency and oversaw the co-ordination for the project. A freelance engineer, Gallo works regularly on BALS projects and this one was even more special as it is likely the last major event to be held at Luna Park before it is temporarily closed for a $34 million USD refurbishment project. Diego González mixed the concerts from the front-of-house position. “Mixing this series of concerts was a high-profile and exciting opportunity”, he says. “With so many performances together, it felt like a family by the last night.”

With the “Es Ahora” (It’s Now) residency performed with 360-degree staging, the clean lines of the set and completely unobstructed view for the audience meant there was no room for error. DiGiCo’s processing enabled the engineers to mix confidently, and redundant power supplies and Opotocore redundancy provided extra peace of mind. “The seamless integration between our SD Racks and Optocore loop gave us the reliability we needed, especially with the long cable runs and extensive setup”, says Gallo.
