AVIXA research forecasts pro AV industry set to reach $402 billion by 2030
AVIXA’s Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) predicts pro AV revenue will grow from $332 billion in 2025 to $402 billion by 2030. Previously, the IOTA predicted market growth to reach $325 billion in 2024, but growth was slower than previously predicted, reaching $321 billion instead. However, the pro AV industry remains resilient, with a forecasted increase of $70 billion over the next five years.
The IOTA report is a comprehensive analysis of the pro AV market, using data from the previous five years and input from various market stakeholders. By providing a snapshot of end user spending, the report presents data on the size of the pro AV industry with a global perspective, segmented by geography, vertical markets, solution areas, and product categories.
Based on discussions with industry experts along with observations of macroeconomic pressures, the previous 5-year projection of a 5.3% growth was revised to 3.9%. Even with this notable decrease in the growth rate due to the dampening effect of uncertainty in tariffs, geopolitics, and high interest rates, pro AV is expected to outpace the global GDP growth by 0.8 percentage points.
“The data highlights that the pro AV industry remains well positioned for long-term success even as we navigate a more cautious growth environment,” says Sean Wargo, Vice President of Market Insight, AVIXA. “Strategic investment in emerging technologies, regional diversification, and cross-industry collaborations will be key to unlocking more opportunities in the future. While the sector continues to outperform global GDP, the pace of expansion has slowed, reflecting a shift from post-pandemic recovery to more stabilized, experience-driven markets - such as live events, retail, venues, and hospitality.”
Two forces continue to shape and drive demand in the pro AV industry: the hybrid workplace and the experience economy. By investing in AV tech to enhance engagement and collaboration in and out of the office, businesses are fostering a symbiotic relationship between workplace transformation and entertainment-driven experiences.
Globally, India has emerged as the standout performer in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, which remains the engine of pro AV growth. Previously a position led by China over last few years, India’s rise to the lead performer was formed from an increase in infrastructure investment and a growing need for immersive technology-enabled experiences. Other regions experiencing high growth are the Middle East and Latin America.
The pro AV industry also continues to evolve through innovations in how audio and visual experiences are delivered. Key innovations are four technologies: AV over IP, software and cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and extended reality (XR). Now a mainstream aspect of AV installations, AV over IP enables content distribution and system control via IP networks. Market drivers are operation efficiency, cost reduction, and immersive experiences.
Software and cloud are increasingly central to AV operations, enabling remote management and scalability. AI is enhancing system intelligence, aiding in design, programming, and labor augmentation, while XR is gaining traction in entertainment, retail, and education. For products, content management hardware and services dominate. Standalone software, especially AI-powered tools, is the fastest-growing category. This trend highlights a broader shift toward value-added services and intelligent infrastructure.
The corporate sector continues to be the largest buyer segment, although its growth is slowing while government, military and energy, and utilities are all accelerating. This reflects recession-resilient investment patterns.
From an AV solutions perspective, conferencing and collaboration tech still leads, but security/surveillance, and broadcast AV are rapidly climbing the ranks. Broadcast AV has now become the second largest solution area behind conferencing and collaboration technologies. This rise shows the growing interest among enterprises in developing video content creation capabilities. It also offers another facet of the experience economy in which audiences are engaged on both digital platforms and in-person, which leads to companies viewing corporate events as capturable and shareable content.

Ten ESTA standards documents now available for public review
ESTA’s Technical Standards Program (TSP) has announced that ten standards documents - comprised of one reaffirmation, two revisions, and seven new draft standards - are now available for public review. All of their respective review documents are available for download from the TSP’s Public Review Documents download page. The public review forms can be returned with any comments one may have, before the deadlines shown.
New draft standard from the Weapons Safety Working Group: BSR E1.78, Prop Weapons Safety
The purpose of this standard is to provide uniform guidance for the safe use of weapons or weapon-like properties (props) in entertainment event productions. It covers prop weapons such as those that look like firearms (whether capable of firing cartridges or not), edged weapons (e.g., swords and knives), and projectiles (e.g., arrows and darts). The standard does not cover weapons used by security forces or those carried by audience members or staff for personal protection. It also does not cover weapons used in sporting events such as bullseye pistol or fencing competitions. The goal is to eliminate injuries and deaths from weapons or weapon-like props used in entertainment productions. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Electrical Power Working Group: BSR E1.79, Television, Film, Live Performance, and Event Electrical Guidelines for Canada
This guideline addresses installation of electrical equipment in the Canadian entertainment industry using any source of power including generator sets. Its scope includes temporary events such as film, television, and live performance, whether held indoors, outdoors, or in tents. This standard’s goal is to make a recommended practices document for all of Canada, based on “Electrical Safety Authority Spec 003”, which was written by the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) in cooperation with the Entertainment Electrical Safety Committee of Ontario. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Electrical Power Working Group: BSR E1.86, Pinout Configuration Types for use with Power & Control Connectors for Fixed Speed Electric Chain Hoists in the Entertainment Industry
This standard covers specific functions assigned to the pins of multi-circuit and NEMA Locking-type connectors used for power and control of fixed speed chain hoists in the entertainment industry. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Event Safety Working Group: BSR ES1.2, Event Safety - Planning & Management
The goal of this standard is to identify the design considerations that may have a positive or negative impact on the safety of events when choosing an event site or venue. It will also discuss how the design of an event within a chosen venue or event site can improve the safety of event personnel and attendees. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Event Safety Working Group: BSR ES1.8, Event Safety - Venue & Site Design
The goal of this standard is to identify the design considerations that may have a positive or negative impact on the safety of events when choosing an event site or venue. It will also discuss how the design of an event within a chosen venue or event site can improve the safety of event personnel and attendees. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Event Safety Working Group: BSR ES1.43, Event Safety - Material Handling
This standard addresses provision, availability, and use of safe material handling procedures, equipment, training, and planning at special events. It will help identify and assess specific material handling hazards specific to the event environment, and help the reader to understand how lack of planning, appropriate equipment, and training can negatively impact life safety at an event. Comments can be submitted before October 6, 2025.
Reaffirmation from the Photometrics Working Group: ANSI E1.54 - 2021, ESTA Standard for Color Communication in Entertainment Lighting
ANSI E1.54 specifies the color space to be utilized when communicating color between lighting controllers and color-changing luminaires. The method is generic, is neither manufacturer-specific nor color technology-specific, and it facilitates communication of chromaticity only. This is a reaffirmation public review, asking if its current requirements remain adequate to address the subject matter without substantive revision. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
New draft standard from the Control Protocols Working Group: BSR E1.31-1, Per-slot priority extension for ANSI E1.31
ANSI E1.31 provides a fast and efficient mechanism to transport the ANSI E1.11 protocol, but it also introduces a complication not possible in the original DMX standard: multiple sources. ANSI E1.31 does not cover cases where a controller wants to explicitly control a small subsection of values without disturbing the rest. Over the course of time, entertainment manufacturers created a technique to individually set priorities on a per-slot basis, and this extension to E1.31 formally codifies that technique as a standard. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
Revised draft standard from the Rigging Working Group: BSR E1.2, Design, Manufacture, and Use of Aluminum Trusses and Towers
This standard describes the design, manufacture, and use of aluminum trusses, towers, and associated aluminum structural components, such as head blocks, sleeve blocks, tower bases, and corner blocks, used in the entertainment industry. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
Revised draft standard from the Rigging Working Group: BSR E1.56, Rigging Support Points
This standard applies to stationary rigging points, attached to permanent facility structure, that are intended to be permanent, and provides minimum requirements for the design, fabrication, installation, inspection and documentation of these rigging points for their use to support rigging loads. Comments can be submitted before September 22, 2025.
ESTA announces new standard from the Control Protocols Working Group
ESTA’s Technical Standards Program (TSP) has announced one new standard from the Control Protocols Working Group, now published and available for download.
ANSI E1.17 - 2025, Entertainment Technology - Architecture for Control Networks (ACN) is a suite of documents that specifies an architecture, including protocols and language, which may be configured and combined with other standard protocols to form flexible, networked audio, lighting, or other control systems. It can be implemented on networks that support UDP, IP, and related protocols.
It’s now available for download from the TSP’s Published Documents page, found at https://tsp.esta.org/freestandards, and can also be purchased from both ANSI’s Web Store and the Accuris Standards Store.

Ursa enters theatre and live events market with body-worn Performance Pouches
Since 2015, Ursa has been producing solutions for transmitter and receiver placement for film and TV productions. It is now launching the Performance Pouch range, a new set of pouches designed specifically for the live and theatrical industries. Designed by the company’s founders - Production Sound Mixer Simon Bysshe and Costume Designer Laura K Smith - Ursa products address sound freelancers around the globe and have been used by engineers for shows like “Adolescence” and “Succession”.
Use of high numbers of radio mics, trackers and IEMs in theatre has become standard, even in smaller venues that traditionally have not required the technology. This practice creates time and personnel pressures for costume departments, who are often relied upon by sound department to make solutions for the technology, the cost of which is not always reflected in the overall budget.
The Ursa Performance Pouch range offers sustainable ready-made additions to in-house belts, that utilise innovative features to increase flexibility of placement, and deliver adaptable solutions that can last for multiple production runs, reducing waste and reliance on custom-made solutions. Designed with Ursa’s exclusive fabrics, the pouches and belts are available in a range of sizes and colours.
“DIY solutions for pouches and straps was once the norm for film and TV too, often leading to pressure being put on costume departments to deliver multiple solutions”, explains Bysshe. “Ursa was born out of our desire to do things better and now we’re ready to offer bespoke, affordable solutions for the theatre and live industries. By including professionals from the National Theatre and West End Productions in our development process, we know we’re making products that will really make a difference.”

TPV Technology awarded EcoVadis Platinum rating
TPV Technology, a global supplier of displays and the organisation behind PPDS and its Philips Professional Displays, has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum Medal.
Now placed in the top one percent of global businesses and confirming its position as one of the world’s most sustainable and socially responsible organisations, the recognition also aligns PPDS’ commitment to addressing impact both on people and on the planet, together with the risks and opportunities tied to the display industry and business sustainability.
EcoVadis is a globally recognised and trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, overseeing detailed assessments of a company’s yearly sustainability performance in areas such as Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Founded in 2007, EcoVadis has screened more than three million companies across 185 countries, with 150,000 achieving either a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Medal based on a meticulous scoring and percentile system.
With a commitment to creating long term value for employees, customers, suppliers, and communities, TPV Technology has been working with EcoVadis since 2021. “We have now advanced to the top one percent of all assessed companies, a significant achievement that reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices”, comments Stefan van Sabben (pictured), Global Director CSR and Sustainability at TPV Technology.
“Examples can be found at every level of the business and our channels, from the factory floor to the ongoing performance of our products long after our customers have installed them”, he continues. “We believe a company’s value lies not only in its business success but also in the positive impact it creates for people and society.”
Teams at TP Vision, MMD-Monitors & Displays, AOC, and PPDS continue to seek new ways and opportunities to support the people, charities and communities they operate in through TPV Cares. Set up in 2022, TPV Cares is the home of TPV’s social and environmental impact initiatives, providing a range of resources, including audiovisual products, financial donations, and volunteer support to deserving projects around the globe.
From taking on gruelling tasks, such as endurance walks, marathons, and mountain climbs, collectively, PPDS, TP Vision, MMD Monitors & Displays, and AOC provide vital funds and solutions - including Philips TVs, interactive and signage displays, speakers, headphones and desktop monitors - making a difference to the lives of many. A recent example is TPV Cares’ work with FC Barcelona’s Barça Foundation, which included PPDS donating EUR 20.00 for every visitor who registered their attendance at the Philips booth at ISE 2024, raising funds to support the charity’s initiatives and projects.
“We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum rating, and the work continues”, van Sabben concludes. “With a forty-year history in the global display industry and as a leading display solution provider, we feel it is our duty to continually set new standards. The recognition from EcoVadis validates those efforts and will help buyers make more informed decisions when choosing their solutions and achieving their sustainability goals and ambitions.”

AV Unlimited makes another invest in Robe
Johannesburg, South Africa-based rental production and technical specialist AV Unlimited has added twelve Robe LEDBeam 350s to the lighting inventory that join its existing stock of Robe fixtures. The fixtures were delivered by Robe’s South African distributor, DWR.
Founded originally as a video company in 1991, AV Unlimited delivers production, designs, and equipment solutions - video, lighting, sound - for a broad base of corporate, business, and industrial events, as well as some television productions, throughout South Africa and in other African countries. AV Unlimited’s operations director Guillaume Ducray explains that the first Robe lights in the company after the lighting division started were LEDWash 600s, which are still used on 99 percent of their shows. Their Pointes and LEDBeam 100s are also out constantly.
When making purchasing decisions, Ducray relies on feedback from their own crew and technicians about the best options as well as inviting the opinions of key freelancers. “The basic factors for any luminaires are usually brightness, flexibility and reliability”, he says, adding that as several other South African rental companies also have LEDBeam 350s, it made perfect sense from a cross-rental perspective to invest in these fixtures - both for leveraging extra business opportunities and for being able to boost their own stock if needed for specific shows.

ACT Entertainment’s ACPD brand makes donation through BTS Pledge-of-Support Program
Behind the Scenes (BTS) received a donation from AC Power Distribution (ACPD), a brand of ACT Entertainment, during this year’s CineGear Expo in Los Angeles. The check was presented by ACPD Vice President James Davey to Behind the Scenes Board Member Paul Royalty representing a portion of the proceeds from sales of ACPD’s LunchBoxPD data and power distribution system. This donation was made possible through ACT Entertainment’s participation in the BTS Pledge-of-Support Program.
The LunchBoxPD is the latest evolution of ACPD’s LunchBox line, now integrating both power and data distribution in a single unit. “The new LunchBoxPD was perfect for Behind the Scenes and the Pledge-of-Support Program”, says James Davey. “It’s a product specifically designed to make life on stage just that much easier - something that rings true with the Behind the Scenes organization and the important work they do for stagehands and technicians. We’re honored to contribute to such a worthy program.”
Paul Royalty adds: “We’re incredibly grateful for this generous contribution. ACT’s continued support through product-based giving is helping us reach more professionals in need through our Basic Needs and Counseling Grants and the BTS Mental Health Initiative.”
The Behind the Scenes Foundation provides financial assistance to entertainment technology professionals in need due to illness or injury, provides grants for counseling or rehab, and provides tools and resources to support entertainment industry workers and promote mental health and wellness.
