Elation launches Proteus Radius with Lili technology

Elation has launched the Proteus Radius, a compact, high intensity IP66 Beam FX fixture powered by a Lili (Laser Illuminated Lighting Instrument) light engine. The Lili technology has been developed to offer a tighter, sharper and brighter beam, improved energy efficiency, better light quality, and increased adaptability.

The Proteus Radius’s Lili light engine produces a bright, concentrated beam of light that can span long distances. The ultra-narrow beam cuts through as a solid column of dense light. Highly efficient with little heat produced, the Lili engine boasts a lifespan of 10,000 hours without significant degradation in brightness.

“These laser-based technologies are set to improve energy efficiency, light quality, and adaptability, allowing for more creative and high-performing solutions across the entertainment lighting industry”, says Eric Loader, Elation Global Vice President Sales. “They provide the ideal output for longer throw distances with lower energy consumption, extended lifespan, and reduced maintenance compared to traditional short-arc discharge lamp sources.”

The Proteus Radius’s 100 W Lili light engine delivers an intense 0.9° beam, combined with a complement of design features that allow designers to compose an array of aerial effects. The Proteus Radius is available as a Class 1 Risk Group 2 Laser Product, meaning it requires no federal operator variance for use in the United States (local regulations still apply).

Endless 360-degree pan and tilt movement makes for animations that can fill any space while the included FX package features an array of useful designs and effects. An artistic selection of thirteen interchangeable-rotating/indexing metal gobos and 29 static-stamped metal gobos provides designers an abundance of creative aerial possibilities.

Four prisms divided between dual overlapping planes split beams in unlimited combinations for aerials. Prism macros are included for programming ease. Dual frosts soften the beam when needed for wash effects. Dimming is smooth without flickering. CMY color mixing with CTO and a 25-position color wheel offer unlimited color options, a system that allows immediate color transitions and instant color bumps. Transitions are seamless while the motorized focus ensures pinpoint accuracy. Light can be further manipulated using the digital shutter and strobe.

The Radius’s rugged aluminum shell and advanced marine-grade coating provide protection against the elements. Mercury-free solid-state technology keeps the IP66-rated fixture cool, quiet, and efficient.
