Lightware enhances security in Taurus devices with new Remote System Logging update
Lightware Visual Engineering, a provider of signal management solutions, has announced that the latest firmware update for its whole Taurus product family (including TPX, TPN and the standalone UCX variants) will introduce a new security feature: Remote System Logging.
“The Taurus is Lightware’s flagship universal matrix switcher, allowing users to share content, switch hosts and control meeting rooms”, explains Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware. “The product’s latest firmware update offers more peace of mind, in addition to its comprehensive connectivity options. The latest Remote System Logging update for the Taurus range gives IT administrators and integrators the power to streamline operations and meet regulatory compliance regulations, all whilst keeping their data safe and secure.”
Remote System Logging enables Taurus devices to automatically forward system logs to an external, centralized server, such as SIEM system, in standard syslog formats (RFC3164 or RFC5424). This removes the need to store logs locally, allowing for easier monitoring, analysis and long-term storage.
The update gives administrators simplified visibility into device activity across networks without having to manually access each device individually, making it easier to troubleshoot, detect anomalies, and spot suspicious behaviour. In addition to centralized visibility, Remote System Logging supports secure, encrypted log transmission using TCP, UDP and TLS network protocols.
It works with both secure and standard types of connections and can be set up with Lightware’s LW3 commands. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) will also be added later. Local logging remains an option, whilst syslog provides the opportunity for external sharing. Users can choose where to send the logs, how to send them, and in what format.
The update is now available across all Taurus products with firmware update support.
