Lightware expands Lara room control with Stream Deck integration

Lightware has expanded its Lara (Lightware Advanced Room Automation) Wizard platform with a new Elgato Stream Deck integration, allowing supported Stream Deck devices to operate as physical user panels for Lara configurations. This aims to provide a faster way to create customized room-control solutions without programming from scratch.

As meeting spaces become more varied, the way users interact with AV systems also needs to adapt. While touch panels remain a popular option, some environments benefit from a dedicated physical controller with clearly defined functions. By adding Stream Deck support, Lara gives integrators another way to create intuitive room interfaces to match the requirements of each space, from straightforward meeting rooms to more tailored AV environments.

“We wanted to make it easy for integrators to turn a Stream Deck into a practical room-control solution, without needing to write code”, says Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware. “The Lara Wizard handles the configuration, while still delivering the flexibility to choose the controls and layout that suit each room, giving users a simple, familiar way to interact with the AV system.”

Lara Wizard guides users through the process in four steps: choosing the compatible Lightware device and Stream Deck model, selecting the required room controls and arranging them on the interface. The Wizard automatically adapts the layout to the selected Stream Deck, ensuring controls only occupy physically available keys.

The configuration tool supports source selection, display and lighting controls, with up to two outputs and four source-selection buttons per output. Integrators can choose icons and preview the complete keypad before generating and downloading the configuration. Real-time status feedback allows the keys to reflect what is happening in the room, including the selected source, disconnected inputs and device power.

Stream Deck can connect directly to the host device’s service USB port or be positioned remotely over the network using an Elgato Network Dock. Designed to fit a wide range of Lightware systems, the integration supports Stream Deck Mini, MK.2 and Neo models, plus all Taurus UCX/DCX devices, including TPX, TPN and MMX2. TPN and GVN MMU devices can also connect over Ethernet via Network Dock, with Lara 2.0.3+ or later required on the host device.
