New digital patchbay labelling system from Black Lion Audio available

Black Lion Audio introduces PBR Lit, a 1U rackmount LED display designed to bring modern, customisable digital labelling to studio racks. Applications include reorganising routing and changing out equipment. Mounted directly above or below an existing patchbay, PBR Lit provides digital labels that can be updated in seconds.

Users need to connect a standard USB keyboard to make edits directly from the front panel, or use the included Patchcad BLA Edition software to create, save, and manage complete patchbay layouts. “Patching is one of the few areas of the modern studio that’s remained surprisingly analogue”, says Preston Whiting, VP of Operations. “Studio technologies evolve constantly but for some reason patchbay labels haven’t. PBR Lit makes updating labelling as simple as editing text, while giving a rack a slick, illuminated appearance.”

To accommodate the most common patchbay formats, PBR Lit offers four display modes: 48-point TRS, 96-point TT, 16-point XLR, and Custom mode for alternative layouts, studio signage, or almost any creative use. Custom mode transforms PBR Lit into more than just a patchbay label - the full-width display can be used for equipment identification, rack labelling, studio branding, session notes, or any custom text anyone might want visible in their rack.

A reinforced steel chassis and black-anodised aluminium faceplate provide durability, while the black finish and blue LED display create a modern aesthetic to complement today’s professional studios.
