Lightware introduces Rack Taurus for centralized AV builds

Lightware Visual Engineering has developed Rack Taurus for rack-based environments such as education and corporate training spaces. It enables centralized AV installations, while aiming to simplify deployment, servicing, and everyday operation in bigger shared rooms, like auditoriums.

Rack Taurus is available in two versions: UCX-4x3-TPX-TX30-R for 10G SDVoE based direct-link extension, and UCX-4x3-TPN-TX30-R for one-to-many distribution over 10G SDVoE based AV over IP networks. Both models support USB-C and HDMI+USB-B connectivity for 4K/5K video, audio and USB data transmission, along with Lara automation features to support advanced room control and automation workflows.

Designed specifically for rack integrations, Rack Taurus is a 1RU solution with rear-facing connectivity and built-in universal power supply to allow one-side cabling and tidy installation in AV racks, lecterns and credenzas. Front-to-back active cooling with intelligent fan control optimizes airflow and minimizes noise. The front panel prioritizes status visibility and control, while cables remain protected and organized at the rear.

To improve the user experience at the lectern, Rack Taurus supports 2 x 100 W USB-C power delivery for connected laptops, helping presenters connect with fewer adapters. It can also simultaneously provide 30 W PoE+ power for connected devices (on ETH3 port), reducing the need for additional power accessories.

The two product variants address different system architectures while maintaining a consistent Taurus feature set. The TPX model delivers deterministic, low-latency 10G SDVoE based direct-link extension without a network switch. The TPN model enables scalable, one-to-many SDVoE based AVoIP distribution over a 10G Ethernet network as part of a broader AV-over-IP design. Both versions help overcome the distance limits of traditional USB and HDMI cabling, extending video, audio, control and USB 2.0 data up to 100 metres.
