Whitwam AVI upgrades HQ demo space

AV integration company Whitwam AVI has upgraded the meeting room at its Winchester, Hampshire, UK, headquarters, creating a live demonstration space where clients can experience corporate AV solutions in a real-world setting.

Whitwam AVI designs, installs and maintains AV systems across corporate, heritage, government, houses of worship and other specialist environments, providing support from initial design through to ongoing assistance. The upgraded meeting room reflects Whitwam AVI’s growing focus on workspace AV, showcasing systems that support hybrid meetings, BYOD workflows and day-to-day operation.

“As the use of Teams increases for meetings with suppliers and clients, it was important for Whitwam to have a dedicated space where multiple people could join the same call together”, says Ray Clarke, Operations & Engineering Manager at Whitwam AVI. “This not only helps reduce noise in the wider office but also supports in-person collaboration with remote participants.”

At the heart of the upgraded meeting room is an AV system supporting both wireless and wired meeting workflows. The space features a Panasonic Laser Projector as the main display, with a Lightware Taurus UCX-4x2 switcher providing central source selection and signal management.

A Barco ClickShare CX-30 enables wireless presentations, while the Sennheiser TeamConnect Bar M provides audio and video. Whitwam AVI also plans to install a Joan 6 Pro Gray panel and PoE wall mount outside the room to demonstrate how meeting spaces can be managed as bookable resources.

“The room was designed to reflect the same priorities we discuss with our clients every day”, explains Clarke. “By using the systems we install for customers within our own premises, we can demonstrate the technology in a real-world setting and showcase hardware from manufacturers we trust for performance and reliability.”

The meeting room has been configured to support multiple bring-your-own-device workflows. The Barco ClickShare CX-30 is set as the default source within the Lightware UCX-4x2 switcher, displaying a branded splash screen with room connection details when idle.

Users can present wirelessly through the ClickShare app on their laptops by entering the on-screen PIN, removing the need for a USB-C dongle. As soon as an HDMI cable is connected, the UCX-4x2 automatically prioritises the HDMI source over ClickShare. When disconnected, the system returns to the ClickShare splash screen.

The Sennheiser TeamConnect Bar M is connected to the Lightware UCX-4x2 via USB, allowing it to be shared between ClickShare and wired table connections. Output 1 from the Lightware switcher feeds the Panasonic Laser Projector.

“For clients, the value is being able to experience the workflows for themselves”, notes Clarke. “They can connect their own device, see how the room responds and understand how the same approach could be adapted to their own meeting spaces.” Whitwam AVI will use the upgraded room for internal meetings, client demonstrations and partner discussions.
