StreamGuys unlocks hidden audio revenue with AI ad tagging service

StreamGuys is introducing a new AI ad tagging service that automates one of the most time-consuming steps in digital audio monetization: identifying and placing ad markers within podcasts and archived content. The new service represents a natural evolution of the company’s first AI workflow integrations, while extending StreamGuys’ broader strategy around advanced advertising, ad insertion and programmatic revenue growth.

The AI ad tagging service is designed to help broadcasters, podcasters and digital publishers maximize monetizable inventory while reducing the manual burden on production teams. By automatically identifying natural transition points for midrolls and other ad insertions, the service enables organizations to create more revenue opportunities across both newly produced content and previously untapped back catalogs.

“Whether you’re producing content at a rapid pace or sitting on a large library that’s never been prepared for digital ad insertion, AI allows us to automatically identify those natural break points and make that content monetizable”, says Eduardo Martinez, EVP of Technology, StreamGuys.

StreamGuys first introduced AI-powered workflows in 2025 to automate ad marker tagging, captions, translations and transcription for podcasts and on-demand media. That initial innovation eliminated the manual effort required to determine where ads should be inserted within audio streams. The new AI ad tagging service builds on that foundation with a more flexible, standalone architecture and expanded capabilities, including multi-language support and deeper workflow integration.

A key advancement is the service’s interoperability. Built around API-based ingest and standards-driven outputs, the platform can accept content from RSS feeds, FTP uploads and other third-party sources, and return ad marker data in ID3 metadata or custom specifications required by external systems.

“The service is completely agnostic from a delivery standpoint”, says Martinez. “We can ingest content from virtually any source and return ad markers in whatever format a platform requires. That means it can work with any hosting environment, while also integrating seamlessly into workflows like SGrecast for customers who want a unified production-to-publishing pipeline.”

The AI ad tagging service also builds on StreamGuys’ work in ad insertion technology, including metadata normalization, timing alignment and SCTE-to-ID3 conversion workflows. These technical innovations ensure that dynamically inserted ads maintain consistent audio levels and precise timing.

“We’re building a comprehensive monetization ecosystem around digital audio, and helping organizations turn streaming into a predictable, scalable revenue engine”, adds Tim Labelle, EVP of Sales, StreamGuys. “By creating more inventory and connecting it to the right demand, we can significantly increase the value of the digital audience.”
