Lightware introduces Ubex
Designed for professional AV and live events such as concerts and conferences, Lightware’s new AV-over-IP product, Ubex, enables low-latency dual-channel HDMI extension with pixel-accurate 4K UHD video delivery, supporting HDR and HDCP 2.2 for consistent results.
Ubex’s extender mode provides point-to-point connectivity for HDMI extension over a single 10G or 20G fibre optic or copper cable, and can be deployed as a traditional extender pair with no Ethernet switch required when straightforward extension is the goal. Plug-and-play operation, auto-equalization, and cable diagnostics aim to help crews deploy quickly and troubleshoot efficiently in dynamic, high-pressure on-site conditions.
For demanding visuals, Ubex supports uncompressed 4K UHD video at 60 Hz with HDR, delivering professional-grade performance with a latency of 0.01 ms. It supports long-distance transmission up to 100 metres over copper, or several kilometres over fibre, helping rental teams cover stage-to-FOH, control-room-to-display, and projector runs.
Ubex offers end-to-end redundancy options and a range of failover features designed to keep signals stable during critical operations. Redundant power and fast failover mechanisms support continuous operation through interruptions, while a boot time of 18.4 seconds aims to help technicians get back online rapidly after power cycling between load-ins.
Ubex also supports advanced control and monitoring for AV integration. RS232 pass-through and IR pass-through enable remote device control, while SNMP monitoring supports network management and ongoing diagnostics. Hot-swappable SFP+ modules help crews adapt quickly to available fibre types and distances, and rugged metal enclosures are designed for the harsh realities of rental handling.
For rental-ready connectivity, the Ubex-Pro20-HDMI-R100 variants add options including Neutrik OpticalCon, EtherCon, and PowerCon True1 (model dependent). Product variants are also available with balanced analog audio In/Out, USB HID extension and Full USB 2.0 extension.
