Redge Technologies delivers record-breaking streaming performance during this year’s World Cup

Redge Technologies has delivered its largest streaming project to date, achieving record-breaking Content Delivery Network (CDN) performance throughout this year’s World Cup tournament, culminating in a peak of 6.3 Tbps of simultaneous CDN traffic during the final.

The milestone was reached while Redge delivered traffic simultaneously across all three of its VDP regions - Poland, Israel, and France - marking the first time the company has sustained record-level traffic across all three regions at once.

Redge launched 4K/H.265/HDR streaming in production for IPBC (Kan) and deployed its proprietary Multi-CDN solution, CDN Selector, at scale for the same client. The company also acted as operator of three CDNs for IPBC (Kan), delivering approximately 3 Tbps of combined traffic through a combination of two Redge CDN instances and AWS CloudFront.

Alongside this, the company sustained record traffic simultaneously across all three VDP regions and ran a new version of its CDN infrastructure in production, reaching a peak load of 150 Gbps from a single node. During the World Cup final alone, Kan’s digital platforms, including Kan Box, the Kan app and Kan’s website, logged approximately 5.4 million views, with peak concurrent usage reaching roughly 410,000 simultaneously active devices, the highest figure recorded since the broadcaster’s founding.

Redge Technologies’ infrastructure supported record-breaking traffic for a range of major clients throughout the tournament, including Play (Play Now), TVP (TVP VOD), WP (WP Pilot), TVN (player.pl), and IPBC (Kan). For each of these clients, the World Cup generated the highest traffic volumes they have ever recorded, with Redge’s platform supporting that growth without disruption. Some of the applications reached number one in both the Apple App Store and Google Play during the tournament, reflecting the scale of viewer engagement the platform supported.

Despite the unprecedented scale of the tournament, Redge did not record a critical incident across any match throughout the entire competition. Traffic across all CDN nodes was protected throughout the tournament by Redge Guardian, the company’s own DDoS mitigation solution.
